Hays’ funnest 5k is a run for all speeds and ages. Runners rock out to a live DJ and then get their awesome-on being showered in neon colors throughout the course, finishing up at the Gnarly Neon after party where the colorful chaos erupts.
We have teamed up with Hays Recreation Commission and Developmental Services of Northwestern Kansas for this event. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to these outstanding organizations. More about them:
The Hays Recreation Commission’s Special Populations activities are designed for any individual, youth or adult, with a mental or physical disability who chooses not to participate in regular Hays Recreation Commission Programs. The Special Populations Section develops, implements, and evaluates a variety of recreation and leisure programs and special events to meet the interests and needs of children, teens, adults, and seniors with disabilities. Programs are designed to develop, enhance, and/or maintain leisure skills, motor skills, socialization, and overall well-being as well as to promote fun and enjoyment.
As a Community Service Provider, Developmental Services of Northwestern Kansas assures the provision of quality services and programs to approximately 500 individuals with mild to severe disabilities. These services are available through community based and outreach programs and interagency agreements with other service providers in the 18 northwestern most counties of Kansas. In addition, DSNWK is the Community Developmental Disability Organization (CDDO) for the 18 northwest counties of Kansas. The CDDO is the single point of entry for an individual or family to obtain services through the developmental disabilities system in the State of Kansas.
